Most of our sewer maintenance is due to unnecessary clogs. Many of which are blockages caused by Fats, Oils, and Grease. These maintenance costs can exceed $300,000 a year. This affects sewer rates, can cause property damage and back-ups, and can also cause sewer overflows which cause pollution problems for our Chester County waterways.
Residential customers can help! Grease must be disposed of properly in the trash. Pouring used grease and oil into a container with paper before putting in the trash will help it absorb into the paper and prevent a mess.
Food service providers will need to install an appropriately sized grease trap or interceptor. Please see the sizing guideline sheet below. Certified plumbers need to do the install. These devices will be inspected semiannually by CWR. These will need to be cleaned out once every 30 days, unless otherwise approved by CWR.
